For customers in tropical coastal regions — Southeast Asia, the Gulf, coastal Africa — correct storage of color coated steel prevents white rust and edge corrosion before the material ever reaches your production line.
1. Keep it indoors. Rain and condensation are the main enemies. If outdoor storage is unavoidable, use waterproof tarpaulins with air gaps for ventilation.
2. Never touch concrete floors. Concrete wicks moisture. Always keep sheets and coils on pallets at least 100 mm above the floor.
3. Ventilate, don't seal. Trapped humid air between sheets accelerates condensation. Allow air circulation around the stack.
4. Avoid temperature shock. If cold material is moved into a warm humid hall, condensation forms instantly. Let it acclimatize before unwrapping.
5. Use within 6 months. Coated steel is engineered for processing, not long-term warehousing. First-in, first-out is strongly recommended.
6. Handle with care. Use soft slings and clean gloves; scratches through the coating expose the substrate.
Botu export packing includes waterproof paper, edge protection and steel strapping on fumigation-free pallets — designed for long sea voyages to humid destinations.
