From Enquiry to Delivery: 7 Things to Confirm Before You Book a Coil Order

October 9, 2026 | Buying Guide

Every month we receive the same enquiry: "What is your price for color coated sheet?" There is no answer to that sentence — seven variables hide behind those three words. State all seven and you get a firm price the first time; leave them out and you lose three weeks to e-mail ping-pong.

1. Thickness — base metal or finished gauge

Does 0.4 mm mean the substrate or the painted, coated total? A 25 μm film plus zinc adds the thickness of two sheets of paper. Your stamping die reads the finished gauge — align the definition before you compare prices.

2. Width and form — coil or cut-to-length

Coil is cheaper, but you need your own CTL line; cut sheets feed your press directly and cost one processing step more. If you want sheets, give two more numbers: length and length tolerance (we hold ±0.05 mm).

Coil in, sheet out — whether you buy coil or sheet depends on whether you run your own CTL line

3. Color — a RAL code or a physical sample

There are a dozen "whites". RAL 9003, 9010 and 9016 side by side are visibly different. The reliable way: send a physical sample or a RAL code, we coat a strike-off, and the run is booked only after you sign it off.

4. Surface — flat, orange-peel, velvet or printed

The surface sets the price band and the line schedule. For emboss, confirm depth (0.06–0.08 mm for side panels, 0.15 mm for liners); for prints, confirm the pattern number.

5. Zinc and film weights

Choose zinc by environment: Z60–Z120 for indoor units, higher for humid climates or long sea transit. Appliance-grade topcoat runs 20–25 μm; thicker films for door panels are negotiable.

6. Quantity and lead time

MOQ follows color: a standard shade runs tens of tonnes per schedule, a custom color waits for a furnace slot. 3–7 days lead time covers standard shades; custom colors add the sampling loop.

7. Packing and destination

FOB Qingdao, or CFR/CIF to your port? Three hundred kilometres by road and thirty days at sea are two different packages. Export shipments from us come with wooden pallets, full waterproof paper, cross-strapped steel bands and edge protectors as standard — condensation and dented corners are lessons we already paid for.
