One Fridge, Four Different Steels: Side Panel, Back Panel, Door and Liner

A side-by-side refrigerator uses at least four different steels from the inside out. Buy them all as one spec and you either waste money or build in a failure. Here is what goes where, and why.
Side panels: the volume workhorse, orange-peel embossed
The side panel is the largest visible part of a fridge, but it is not the face — it sits against the kitchen wall and is rarely looked at head-on.
Spec: 0.06–0.08 mm orange-peel embossed prepainted sheet, 18 μm topcoat
Why emboss: the emboss carries stiffness, so a thinner substrate does the same job — and the grain hides scratches and fingerprints
Color: white runs about 80%, any RAL on request
The volume panel: the grain hides scratches and carries stiffness — the highest-volume sheet in the appliance trade
Door panels: the face of the unit, graded hardest
The door is the most visible square meter of the whole appliance. The customer looks at it every day.
Spec: velvet-texture (Moyuyan) or high-gloss white, film up to 25 μm and beyond
ΔE checked every batch: a door half a shade off reads instantly in a showroom
No flaking on the fold: the door is hemmed on all four sides, so film thickness and flexibility are hard requirements
Back panels: the invisible place to save
The back panel faces the wall and nobody ever sees it — but it sits against the foam and the compressor bay, so corrosion protection is not optional.
Spec: anti-fingerprint galvalume substrate with a deeper orange-peel emboss, 0.06–0.08 mm emboss on a 0.30 mm finished panel
The logic: emboss carries the stiffness so the substrate can go thinner; galvalume plus passivation handles rust; skipping the topcoat removes the paint cost entirely
Back panels cut to length and stacked for shipment — an invisible part, with no compromise on rust protection
Liners: the aluminum stand-in
Freezer liners were traditionally pure aluminum. More and more plants now run steel-clad aluminum — a high-zinc galvanized substrate hot-pressed with a high-purity aluminum skin.
0.15 mm liner-grade relief, micrometer-checked every batch
Looks like pure aluminum plate and drops straight onto existing liner lines
70%+ lower total cost, three-plus years proven in the market
Steel-clad aluminum — looks like aluminum, costs like steel
